“Impressions ",the one-person show featuring Caroline Blanks, will open at Niswonger Performing Arts Center on October 6th and run through November 5th, 2010. The public is invited to “Meet the Artist” on Sunday, October 17th at NPAC from 12:30 to 3 PM. This is the final exhibition of 2010’s “Art at NPAC” series presented by the James-Ben: Studio & Gallery Art Center.
”Rainy Day Walking”, one of the paintings in the show is a donation to the Greeneville/Greene County Humane Association as silent auction fund raiser during the exhibition. This is Caroline’s acknowledgment of the relationship between owner and pet, which, as all of us know, defies logic. “Who wants to leave their cozy home on a drizzling evening to drag the pooch around the block?”, Caroline asks. “But she’s at your knee with the leash. And you promised...” This generous gift touched Lori McCracken, president of the Greeneville/ Greene County Humane Society, who said, “On behalf of the Board of Directors, I wish to extend our sincere appreciation to Caroline Blanks of the James-Ben: Studio & Gallery for her donation of such a lovely and inspiring work of art for the benefit of our animals.”

"Homecoming"is a one-woman show by former Greene Countian, Marie Burchette Merritt in the lobby and on the mezzanine at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Historic Greeneville. Sponsored by James-Ben: Studio and Gallery Art Center ,for this exhibition Marie draws inspiration from the rich history and heritage of her native east Tennessee and southern Appalachia and translates the beauty of the people and places into stories told on canvas. Historical characters come to life in her realistic portraits and her pastoral landscapes preserve the beauty of vanishing rural farmlands. Keeping with a theme of tradition, she uses a careful combination of transparent and opaque oil paints, applied in time-honored techniques reminiscent of the old masters, to set a mood of reflective observation.
